International scientific organization devoted to facilitating communication among those interested in Orthoptera and related organisms, and to encourage collaborative research and control programs in Orthopterology among countries of the World. The Society publishes the peer-reviewed Journal of Orthoptera Research.

The Journal of Orthoptera Research publishes original research that addresses the insect Order Orthoptera and related taxa: the Blattodea, Mantodea, Phasmodea, and Grylloblattodea. Papers cover the entire range of biological studies of these insects: curiosity and insight into conservation, biological control, pest management, behavior, genetics, cytology, ecology, morphology, parasitology, physiology, systematics and taxonomy, etc.  It is published twice a year.

Major threat to agriculture in many parts of the world, locusts cause considerable damage to crops, to people and to the environment. The Orthoptera Species File is a taxonomic database of the world's Orthoptera (grasshoppers, locusts, katydids and crickets), both living and fossil. It has full synonymic and taxonomic information for more than 26,360 valid species, 43,530 scientific names, 187,200 citations to 12,600 references, 79,300 images, 1200 sound recordings, 87,600 specimen records, and keys to 2,800 taxa.

Locust watch - Desert Locust

This website provides scientists working on the management of locust and grasshopper pests access to relevant scientific literature. An on-line collection of titles of significant publications and full texts of more than 250 articles. More than 12.000 references on locusts and grasshoppers (including rare and old works) are available on request to CIRAD library.

A service provided by the Locust and Other Migratory Pests Group to monitor the world-wide locust situation and keep affected countries and donors informed of expected developments.
