michel lecoq - research interests
My researches are primarily directed towards the population dynamics of various locust and grasshopper species such as the Migratory locust (Locusta migratoria), the Red Locust (Nomadacris septemfasciata), the Senegalese grasshopper (Oedaleus senegalensis) as well as all the sahelian grasshoppers of West Africa, the Mato Grosso locust in Brazil (Rhammatocerus schistocercoides), and - of course - the Desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria) in Africa. I contribute to develop preventive control strategies, in particular against the Migratory locust in Madagascar and the Desert locust in Africa in cooperation with FAO. I continue to be interested in such preventive strategies to better perceive the brakes (sociological, financial, legal) for the implementation of an effective control.
